Postpartum Recovery Garments: Which One, When to Start, How Long to Wear It
A good recovery garment feels like a firm, steady hand on your middle while everything inside settles. It won't flatten your tummy or close separated muscles on its own. In the early weeks, though, it can make getting up, walking and feeding feel a lot easier. Here's how to choose one and wear it well.
The short version
A recovery garment supports you while your body heals; it doesn't fix separated muscles on its own. Choose Angelica after a vaginal birth and Sienna after a C-section; the Bellefit girdles give firmer compression. Start within days of a vaginal birth, and after a C-section only once your doctor agrees. Wear it for eight to twelve weeks, building up the hours. It should feel firm, never tight. Loosen it if you feel numbness, pinching or pressure low down.
